Official Launch of Cornholme and Portsmouth Old Library
Cornholme and Portsmouth Old Library officially opened on 26 May 2013, Sunday.
Sunny warm weather provided a long-awaited break and added to the atmosphere of fun and excitement at the Opening.
Hard work by our many volunteers and Trustees had paid off. The interior and exterior of the building shone, freshly-painted, and flower planters outside brightened up the site. “Cafe open” sign along with a huge coffee cup and a cake hung on the railings.
The Launch benefited from generous donations of cake from local people. The cake table was full.
While some volunteers worked in the kitchen, serving both ordinary and fancy coffee and tea – your choice! – as well as squash and cordial for children,
Others created balloon fun for the kids.

Children’s Centre, Todmorden‘s activity area
Children’s Centre, Todmorden, kindly provided a wealth of activities led by qualified workers. There was messy play, lego construction and to crown it all, face painting.
However, it was not only children who got into the spirit of play!
Todmorden Town Council’s representatives enjoyed themselves.
Canopy, whose motto is
“Making beautiful shows and experiences in the least likely locations”,
put up a tree, on which Cornholme and Portsmouth residents could stick their leaves stating what the villages lack, and apples with suggestions what The Old Library might provide.
The consultation is not over. Please write to us with your ideas at contactus@oldlibrary.org,
